Although a dedicated server provides more power and the ability to have the server to yourself, unless you decide to share it with friends or relatives, its worth noting that you should make yourself aware of what types of websites and services you can host on the server.

Have a read through the terms page of the company that your with and see what types of sites and services that they allow.

Although its known that using a dedicated server allows for you to install additional scripts and other things that may not be possible on a shared hosting plan, it doesn’t mean that just any type of site can be hosted on the dedicated server.

Knowing what the hosting company will and will not allow to be hosted is something that you definately want to fully understand before even signing up with them.

You dont want to go through the process of creating an account with them, only to have your account terminated shortly afterwards because you had not read their terms.

Ive you cant see anything mentioned in their terms of service and think there could be issues with a website or service that you want to use the dedicated server for then send them an email or even make a quick phone call to them, if their fine with your plans then your good to go and at least you know that everything that you have in mind is ok with the hosting company.
