Content Management Systems At Your Web Host
Some people may not have the experience to develop a website from scratch or the funds available to pay a web developer to design and set everything up for them but for a few years now there has been the availability of Content Management Systems, also know as a CMS that helps provide a backend to work with so that you dont need to know how to setup databases and to be all technical minded as the point of a CMS is to give you a base to work with.
Some Content Management Systems can be very easy to work with, while others can have quite a learning curve but each will provide various options to you and can enable you to setup all types of sites, from Blogs and Forums, to Download sites and Ecommerce websites.
A lot of web hosts provide plenty of free scripts, for example if you choose a web hosting package that includes Fantastico then this will include plenty of free scripts as a library that you can choose from.
You will find scripts like WordPress and Joomla and many others and if you dont see a CMS script that you would like to use already included within your web host package then its easy enough to upload the one that you want to use to your hosting account, as long as its compatible with your hosting package.
The CMS scripts that you will often see available with a plan at a web host are free to use as they will usually be open source so it wont cost you anything to use them within your hosting.
So if you have bought yourself a domain and signed up to a web hosting plan and your wondering what to do next you can browse through any scripts that may be included with the plan that your using and try a few of them out, see which one you like and get your website up and running.
Using a CMS at your webhost still requires work on your part, you still need to choose a template/theme and get to grips with the working of the Content Management System but it at least gives you something to work with and enables you to get a website setup rather quickly and means that you actually get some use out of your web hosting account.
You might find that you love working with a particular CMS after a bit of time and may find yourself choosing the same CMS for all of your websites if it suits your requirements and plans.
