Ok so you start looking around at web hosting providers and before long you realise that you're absolutely spoiled for choice.

There are just so many web hosting providers out there, all fighting to get your business and some are better than others, thats without a doubt, but it still doesn't always help with your decision of who to host your websites with.

The features, the cost, type of hosting, support, payment options, time established, servers located in your own country or abroad, feedback from other people and so much more seems to add to the difficulty in choosing a web host.

Although plenty of available choice can feel fantastic it does create a problem for us in the sense that we become overwhelmed and then dont know who to go with.

One way that you can tackle this problem, to help you narrow down potential suitable web hosts is to eliminate what you dont want or need.

A reason for doing this is that you can be drawn in by the features of a provider and think that you want to choose that particular plan when you may infact not need most of those features or even understand what most of them are for.

By gaining an understanding of the basic features that you will be using and then eliminating what you dont want, you can then narrow it down a bit and you begin to see which web hosting providers are not really what you're after, you can see if you would be paying for a load of stuff that you wouldn't use.

Naturally a lot of the available plans are still going to include a few features that you wont need but this is not as bad as taking on a hosting plan because it had a huge long list of features that are of no use to you.

The elimination of what you dont want within a hosting plan then gives you a sense of direction, you begin to see the type of plans that you need to be looking at, you're back in control again as you hunt for a suitable web host and this helps prevent you from being taken in by the overselling that some web hosts do, you know the sort, where they advertise unlimited this and unlimited that, but where you find out after you have been using them for a while that it's not possible (realistically) to offer anything as unlimited.
