Getting Non Specific Replies From Support
Have you ever contacted support at your web hosting provider and got a reply back that seems to have sidestepped your support question?
For example at one web host that i use i will occasionally experience some downtime, its very rare but happens maybe 2 or 3 times per year and from what im aware i believe its just their MySQL server that my database is on just needs restarting or something.
But when i contact this host, within a very short time the problem is solved, my website is back online, ive most likely brought the issue to their attention and its not only solved the problem for me but any other websites with a MySQL database on that same server, which im glad of, of course, but they reply with a less than specific message stating that they cannot answer support questions with regards to individual scripts or something like that, even though that was never asked by myself.
Im always glad that the issue gets fixed properly, its just that the support employee replying is obviously throwing a generic answer back for probably 100′s of similar support questions that get sent to them.
Its a large web host and as people know, sometimes the larger a company gets the less personal it becomes for the customers, but there are still a great many clients, and always will be a great many who prefer that personal touch, knowing that a hosting provider is dealing with them as an individual, and each support case as an individual one, rather than a rapid response that has you wondering if they even read your support question properly.
Fortunately, and im glad of this, is that there are plenty of web hosting providers that do have their support team treat you individually and reply to you accordingly, this is very much the case at a seperate hosting provider than i use, they really focus specifically on your issue and you know that the support employee has read your support message properly and you feel that you are not just another customer but instead are indeed important to them, regardless of how much or how little your hosting package may cost. from them.
