Web Hosting, Internet And The Future, Everything Online

web-hosting,-internet-and-futureOver the last few years im sure that a lot of you will have noticed how there is encouragement by google and the other big companies to store a lot of your content including various types of media online.

There are so many services offered by the large search engines and the other companies that offer lots of free storage space for your own convenience and to allow you to share freely with others your photos, videos, spreadsheets and everything else that might be convenient to have stored online somewhere.

Well it looks to me, and i know im not the only one that is thinking about this, that ideally what those large companies want and quite possibly what some people will want themselves (although some wont like the idea) is where you no longer have to really download anything in the sense that we do now, unlike at the moment where we still install applications on a desktop, laptop or an iPhone.

You can see hints of it now but it really looks like the browser and what is separate from it at the moment will blend together more and more, there will be much less storage on our own computers i imagine and the majority (well more or less everything) will be stored online and with the process being simplified with regards to working between the various types of content.

Its natural and understandable that some people wont like the thought of so much of what they would otherwise keep stored on their own computer being online, stored in accounts in various places and while no one will force you to move in that direction i imagine that it will gradually become necessary for even those resistant to it to go with the flow and adopt this new way in order to make the most of it.

Similar to how google allows us to login to various services that we use of theirs, all with theĀ  one login, there will be more of that so that even though some of the services will be from separate and independant companies i can see plenty of cooperation between them in order to simplify the hosting and storage and logging in and out of the various services.

What do you think about this? Will you embrace it or do you worry about how much of what you work with will be stored online in the future?
